Formation Sign or School Blazer Badge!

Hello Gents,

This patch came with medals and other military insignia but I can't tell if it's a military related formation sign or a school blazer patch? It is Indian made and the size of most shoulder patches.

Any ideas?

An example of the very rare sign worn by 73 British Inf Bde Gp in India in the run-up to Indian partition and Independence 1946-47. Six all-British brigades were formed for Internal Security duties - all had a shield shaped sign with colours generally yellow design on blue.
It's an outstanding find! Well done!

Wow Mike that is good news.

Before posting it on the forum I tried finding it on the net with no luck. This patch came with the Indian Parachute Jacket and other insignia. It looks like it's turning into an interesting story.
