I’m adding two photos of a cap badge matching one from above found in the area the Yorkshire yeomanry were at for a time in France!
The finder of the badge is a nice fellow and I’m glad he found it!

According to Gaylor the pattern you show with scroll below wasnt adopted until 1920?

It may be he is mistaken from the evidence you have provided.

Thank you Stephen,
Yes indeed the badge found is from WW2, my French friend found a helmet with badge on the side! Also he photographed graffiti left by the ERY !

Chay
A Helmet with a badge on the side sounds a little odd perhaps the helmet was a battlefield grave marker?

I think your friend may need to revisit the sight of the find and do more investigation and speak to locals

The graffiti is neat have you checked regimental history to see what happend to the regiment in that area and check to see if their were any casualty's. Do you have an image of the Helmet?

Regards

Stephen
