Armed Forces Lanyards
With my 1st Thread I want to try to ID Lanyards of the Armed Forces.I got some new ones in, where I try to ID them propperly.
I know the JSP, but sometimes they just state like green, but what shade and how to ID the shade. The first will be a Blue/yellow Question. The Top one is a RLC, but the others too? Variations. Normally 2-2 in the twisted cords, I also have a 1-2 Cord. Some are twisted to the left, some to the right. Maybe somebody can clarify a bit. |

Hi Jon,
thanks for the Link, allready found it. Are there some of the un-identified ones ID'ed? I also have a bunch of them and try to ID a 6 Kilo Box I got last week. Some are very strange, never saw them before and also not in the Link. so there will be more in the near future. Nico |

Nico,
Great to meet another lanyard collector. Probably like you I started with a few items and then obtained a large quantity. Positive identification is indeed tricky as the official UK War Department/MOD documentation and other compiled published information is somewhat limited (although I believe I have most of it). Unfortunately it is mostly just descriptive with phrases like "green number 3" which is not helpful! Also as you can see from my album as well as unidentified British Army lanyards there are others of UK style/manufacture which are probably from Colonial or foreign armed forces or even civilian organisations. There are certainly manufacturer's variations in colour and thickness (see here for Intelligence Corps ) http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ictureid=16293 and of course some regiments and corps have different types for soldiers, NCOs and officers. Keep posting your unknowns as members here may be able to identify them and I can update my album if I have the same one! Regards Tim

thank's for your Input. I also have some of your unknown ones, like the V2, others I have in loads, like 20 of the Sovereigns Platoon, 50 Pistol Lanyards, 80 Pocket Knife Lanyards but these I got earlier, so they're not part of the current search. Some came new in the Bag with the NSN on, so these were easy to ID. Others I have come in mirrored Colours, like a 9/12th where I have one with the thin end in red, the other in yellow, so what's this. Other designs I never saw before like the Top green one. Also have it in grey. I guess, some I might never ID. I know that also other Countries used them, so maybe it's something else. Was the same with a Box of 150 Stable Belts I got 20 yrs. ago. I really got mad abouut them, before I found out that they're Danish. Back in these Day's the Internet wasn't that helpfull as today. So let's see what the future brings.
