Two collars for I D
Not had much luck at the flea fair today with cap badges, but hopefully on safer ground with these collars.
Not sure on the top two, assume one is Canadian, appears to be silver, the second one Belgian/French?? Cheers John

Crown over Maple Leaf
Good day John,
Bottom left badge in your pic is a collar for the Canadian unit, Governor General's Body Guard, used from 1920 to 1936. If it is silver (plated?), it is an officer's collar; if white metal, it is OR's. During the Militia re-org of 1936, GGBG merged with the 9th Mississauga Horse to become the Governor General's Horse Guard, with a resultant change in both the hat and collar badges. Ian

The NZ badge does say 1st BN by the way. Ian, the badge appears solid silver, so quite a scarce badge if only worn for 16 years I would think. Regards John

My reference material says plated for officers, however, that's not to say some enterprising officer didn't have sterling badges made up. Is your example stamped with a detailed reverse or does it have a flat back?
And a correction. The OR's collars are also found in brass. Ian

Ian, it is stamped so perhaps it is plated, difficult to tell.
