Anodised Aluminium Kings Crown Rifle Brigade
Hi all,
Any opinions on this badge? I suspect it might be fake, but a more informed opinion would be appreciated. If deemed to be correct, it might be offered for sale. Many thanks in advance, Andrew Last edited by Nozzer; 30-11-23 at 08:21 PM. |

Will let others confirm as not my area but strongly suspect this may be a ‘Gaylor fake’.

I’m sure the genuine RB a/a badges are maker marked only , can’t remember the maker of the top of my head ,Timings rings a bell

This would include many of the following badges fitted with sliders which since 2011 were/are still being made and issued in anodised aluminium with sliders unmarked: Royal Horse Artillery Queen’s Dragoon Guards Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Light Dragoons Queen’s Royal Lancers Royal Gloucestershire Hussars Royal Artillery (large and small patterns) Royal Engineers Army Air Corps Royal Army Medical Corps Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Adjutant General’s Corps Royal Military Police Military Provost Staff Corps Royal Army Veterinary Corps Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Small Arms School Corps Royal Army Dental Corps Intelligence Corps Royal Army Physical Training Corps Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps Officer’s Training Corps It seems likely that they will be eventually replaced by King’s Crown issue where appropriate. HW Timings Bham is the correct mark for the KC Rifle Brigade.
Very scarce badge. I suspect it only had 1 production run ,2 at most. The badge was obsolete in 1952 and was changed to the Guelphic crowned badge. The blank slider version isnt that common either. |

H W Timings example is indeed a rare badge and will fetch 3 figures if you can find one for sale. The Gaylor copies can also make £40.
They are frim two very distinctly differing dies. Bess |

Thank you for your replies, all very useful.
I did have a H W TIMINGS example, but sold it on the forum some time back. I had forgotten about this one and as a fake, I am surprised it still has some value. I will mark it as such and stick it back in the box. Andrew |
