Pitt & Swatkin
This company is listed amongst other badge manufacturers in the Ministry of Supply ledgers for 'cap badges (metal)' 1939 - 1946.
Does anybody know anything about this company ?? Might it be related to Pitt & Co who made military buttons !? thanks |

Hello KLR
Pitt & Swatkins Ltd is still in business in Walsall as a goldsmiths/silversmiths making coins, medals, trophies and so on and their website claims they started out in business in 1898. As far as I know there is/was no connection with the Charles Pitt & Co who made buttons amongst other things until taken over by Gaunt in 1973. Roger |

Many thanks to you both !
I'll look them up amd write to them - they made just over (or were contracted to make) 55k King's Regt cap badges between 1939 and 1941 ! I'd like to know what they looked like !! (most were what ! could call a Firmin 1926 Patt design - long tail, straight hind legs). Pitt buttons was just a guess ! J |
