96 MG Coy wore a red triangle but it was a 2" equilateral.

Maybe, but it could be the 29 Div triangle though Ifrom what I've read they employed a system of battle insignia on the back of the jacket rather than on the shoulder straps.

The 8th Division Machine Gun Signal Company wore a red triangle, the size is not known.

Default MG flash

Alex, my information came from the MHS special booklet on MG Corps insignia, there was lots of cloth insignia worn during the Great War that was never recorded.
I have a red "L" on Khaki that know one has yet been able to ID, I have had it for over forty years and would love to know who wore it.
