I love a bit of conjecture, so, Devil's Advocate here:

Does the blob argument, now, contradict the long supported fake badge theory, (held by some on here) that the 11th London, Finsbury Rifles with a blob on the upper arm of the cross, beneath the A is a wrong 'un.

Regards.

I think a small forum debate on that particular issue is long overdue.

In the past, there has been a tendency to dismiss this 'flawed' badge when the subject has arisen, without the matter really being fully explored and without its presupposed inauthenticity being strongly backed up with any (for want of a better word) 'evidence'. Many of us dismiss this badge on that basis alone and without fully looking into the merits or faults attached to it.

I recall this issue arising a few years ago; nothing substantive ever seems to come to light that places this badge beyond any doubt of it being a wrong 'un.

Perhaps it is a dodgy badge, and perhaps it isn't. Personally I do not know, but it would it not be better to have something a bit more concrete on which to convict it other than personal opinion only? That, by the way, is not a criticism of, nor an attack on personal opinion, of course.

Happy New Year.

JT
