The Regimental Tailor did mine from old combat jackets and smocks I was always wearing holes in my elbows and knees, he would also fix the frayed cuffs, for me.

Default Formation Signs

The major suppliers of cloth Formation Signs from WW2 until the 1970's were:

Printed- The Callico Printers Association Ltd
Embroidered (plus shoulder titles)- Lewis Falks Ltd, Letchworth.

Regards, Stephen.

Did any other company supply printed patches? (Specifically, WW2 printed titles and patches.)

Bill,
So far I've not found any other manufacturers by name. There are references to other companies providing quotes which were not taken up.

28 Commonwealth Bde/ Anzuk Bde had their printed Formation Signs made locally in Singapore, I presume that the Malaysia Command/Troops printed versions were also locally made.

Regards, Stephen.

Thanks Stephen. All of the correspondence and records that I have seen from Library & Archives Canada indicate that Callico was the sole provider. There were a couple of non-UK made patches, like the Kiska patch, made in canvas, but they are distinctly different from the Callico ones.

Bill,
As yet I haven't got around to going into the manufacturers of the British printed shoulder titles, which are almost the same to the Canadian canvas titles. One day I'll find the references I'm sure.

Regards, Stephen.
