Default Nice Dated Portrait - Cap Question?

Hi Chaps,

I have just added this nice photographic postcard to my collection/album of a seated KSLI solider. This example has a short message to the rear and unusually a date - March 1918 - always nice to have a specific date, as most don't.

Question: Take a look at the top brim of the cap, just above the cap badge. It appears deliberately altered. I can't tell if it is just pushed in or has been permanently sewn/altered/made that way. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before or know what it is?

Cheers, Roy.

It looks pushed in to me. He has the cloth s/ts and collar pinned into the neck which is typical of a late war picture and matches your date. Thanks for posting.

Hi Alan,

Thank you for that. Yes pushed up it could be but it is clearly deliberate whatever it is. I wonder why..

Perhaps just a personal style?

Cheers, Roy.

It's a personal affectation I have asimilar picture of a Gunner in the RFA with a similar 'dent' in the brim. I suspect a photo for the missus or folks back home.
