The war still had a year left in Northwest Europe, I wonder how many of those lads managed to get through unscathed and returned home?

Green Howards
Very interesting Jo, the man nearest the camera looking straight at it has what appears to be a badge backing, a complete lack of formation signs from what I can see.

In the second photograph of men afloat, I think the man in the lower foreground is slightly out of focus and I also think the dark area behind his badge is actually a shadow and nothing more.

Men might be wearing denims, the sergeants issuing rations look to be in battledress- perhaps that accounts for lack of insignia visible on the men. Regards, Paul.
