Default Oh no its not ( 2)

This badge is nothing to do with the Kings Liverpool Regiment I am pretty sure:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2920631573...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

All the representations of the mythical Liver Bird I have ever seen show a sprig of some sort of foliage in the birds mouth.

I did recall what I thought was the same badge being shown in one of the military societies magazines some time ago but when I found it ( In Crown Imperial Spring 2002 ), it was not the same badge but something similar- picture attached.

Is anyone able to positively identify either badge, I think there is a clue in the Crown ( baronets coronet ? ) on the E bay badge.

P.B.

Thanks Phil,

Looks like Truro Auction Center had no idea what it was either.

Hello Peter

Given the presence of the coronet, it is possibly a livery badge. Livery buttons are familiar to most collectors but we tend to forget that some household staff wearing livery buttons also wore livery badges of one form or another.

The coronet is like that of a Baron's. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronet

I've had an identical pair of collar badges lounging in my odds and sods box for the last 20+ years. I've not got a clue what they relate to. What I can say, is that there is no Liverpool connection. The one listed on eBay does not indicate the size and I can't be bothered to ask the seller. Mine appear not to be quite a matching pair which suggests that there was more than one die made.

Dave.
