Default Looking to identify the unit

I'm trying to identity the unit to which the individual in this picture was posted. This would be a British WW2 era unit. Thanks for any assistance!

Gloustershire Regt for me to, looks early than WW11 though ??

Glosters, Probably circa 1938-39.

The side cap is late 30's and authorised for wear in 1937 but by 1940 the tunic was obsolete.

The inverted chevron shows he has at least a few year' service.

Machine Gun trade badge above that on his sleeve.

It's a private purchase blue hat with red piping and yellow centre panel on top.
