i was very interested to see both the photo and the link to the article detailing the life of Bob Tilburn. My sister in law was in the same class at school as Robert Tilburn's daughter and became friends. He worked for the MoD at Eaglescliffe and lived in Thornaby on Tees. So it was great to be able to see a photograph of him........he was well known as being one of the three to survive the sinking of the Hood. Thank you for posting.

You might be interested to know that Hood's 5.5" guns were removed in 1935 and two of them relocated to Ascension Island in 1941.
