Default WW1 RND or WW2 Beach Group sign.

I am in need of an explanation here...The "Mudhook" was the RND magaazine/newssheet or journal during WW1....But, on the cover of this edition,it appears that the "Beach Group" insignia made its appearance.....
Did in fact, the beach group insignia was created during WW1....

63rd (RN ) Division , as the explanation in Wheeler-Holohan says the shape etc varied according to the artist.

The badge when seen in colour is distinctly different from the beach group badge, though it may well have been the inspiration for it?

Why the reverse colours on the first two I don't know, but certainly not unlike the later beach group insignia.

Tony

Surprisingly, the Beach Group sign came in facing pairs - a fact noted by King George VI when inspecting a Beach Group pre- D Day. This is related in "Deceivers Ever" by Capt Stephen Sykes RE. Mike

The things you ( probably should just be me ) discover on the Forum that you did not know before are amazing.

( Liverpool Irish wore the Beach Group sign superimposed on the sign of the 3rd Canadian Division so I now need an example of the facing Beach Group sign ).
