DZ Patch
I think his DZ patch was worn by 1st Bn Ryl Irish Regt when they were the infantry Bn in 5th Airborne Brigade. Can anyone confirm this for me please?
If this is incorrect, who did wear it? |

Did anyone read Collins' book? I thought it was brilliant.

David,
I read it about two years ago after hearing about his famous pre-battle speech to his battalion before the advance into Iraq. Very much enjoyed the whole book, and when I was done I felt (after 27 years in the Infantry) that if he was my CO and said the mission was to storm the Gates of Hell, then I would have followed him there and back. I felt it was as crime and a shame that he was rogered like he was by people who may have been jealous or felt they had to come down on him to justify their existence. I would recommend the book to anyone who has not read it yet. Brits should be proud of soldiers like him. Ian
