Default Malayan_Federal Jungle Company/11

A poor quality image which could probably be improved. A note below states that the unit was formed in 1948 for anti-CT (Communist Terrorist) operations. What are the weapons? Pump action shotguns? Mike

Mike

The curved mags on top of the receiver probably knock out them being pump action shotguns.

The common "Commonwealth" gun in use at the time with the curved mag on top was the Bren LMG. Even though they are very poor depictions I would be leaning towards them being Bren Gun, probably the L4A4 variant.

By the way, very nice looking badge, I have never seen one before.

Regards

Dennis

Agreed - Bren LMG. I should have looked more closely rather than complaining about poor quality! A Specsavers moment! Mike

They could also be Japanese type 99 or 96 LMG's being just after the war.

Mike,

If you look in my albums I have an example pictured.
http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...hp?albumid=301

My understanding is that these were actually quite highly trained units, formed from the police.
I think that the Cheshire Regt museum has silverware from the period of the Malayan conflict with numerous examples of these numbered badges attached to it.

Stephen.
