Simon,
Not much help but the Army List for January 1925 shows Hulme Grammar School C.Corps ( and 1st C.Bn, Manchester Regiment ) affiliated to the 6th/7th Battalion. It is the same in the November 1932 List. Will see if I can find anything else in other lists Peter

Peter,
Thanks for that. I had a feeling HGS was to do with the 6th. Manchester GS I have no idea though. Were all OTC's actually affiliated to a Bn. I dont know?? regards

No they were not. Most were not but Cadet Corps were.
In Hulme Manchester case they had a CC and an OTC at the same time. |

I had assumed the HGS CC became the HGS OTC in 1908? Is that definately now not the case? regards

Yes. I have proof of the existence of both.
https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=...0corps&f=false Page13 in this book confirms that Hulme Manchester had the OTC for senior boys and a cadet Corps for younger boys. Last edited by Alan O; 18-03-19 at 04:09 PM. |

Alan,
Indeed it does and I have worked out that the writer moved from the CC to the OTC as late as 1925. Thats a very interesting revelation in the history of School Cadet Corps which I had always assumed had died out upon the formation of the OTC. Puts a whole new timeline on formations. Thanks for providing the information. regards

There was a number of schools who ran both in parallel. When the OTC expanded in the mid 1930's a number of cadet corps became OTCs or formed OTC for the older boys.
