Where Have All The Flowers Gone?
It's arrangements like this that take me back in time and give a tangible sense of meaning to history. The Great War is a hundred years old but the collection seems ageless, like what they say about old soldiers never dying, or something like that. I spare a thought about the recipients, many no doubt in their late teens or a bit over. It is said of many of them, too many, that they will never grow old. Some of the flowers in the ballad have found a new bed with me. Nationality doesn't count.
