weird Royal Warwickshire buttons
The attached Royal Warwickshire button (Ripley's No 282) has a backmark of "C. Pitt & Co, London W.1.". It is like any good quality british infantry button, until you pick it up.
A Pitt made button weighs around 6 grams. This one is 23 grams. It is massive brass and sand cast. The small sized button has the backmark "Pitt & Co Maddox St. London". Does anyone know what they are? Are they Indian made replacement buttons? |
