The rear wouldn't bother me if the front was better, every one which comes on the market tends to be like this so I'm pretty sure its a reproduction and a poor one at that.

I agree and also echo Keith’s thoughts.
Whilst the backs of many London related PBPs can vary hugely the very poor quality of the front and lack of definition or detail is what kills these me. As Simon mentions this one appears of particularly modern manufacture. I suspect they’re cast copies possibly from one similar to the attached silver PBP. The deformed, verging on mutilated, second N of London is a common feature amongst those seen on eBay and on sellers websites. |

He was on my 'ignore list' before he started this thread.
He has been at it before and I took offence. |

The quality of the lettering is so much better on that one

A front and back of what I suspect the PBP in post #1 was copied from.

I've noticed that the copies/ fakes never seem to come with a backplate. Yet,the backplate in most cases was an integral part of the badge,in that it was worn under the badge but above the belt.

To the ‘maker’ of these, shall we say, reproductions, it is an expense they won’t recoup. Same with making good usable screw posts.

I've yet to see one in the flesh that doesn't come looking like that although as we see in pictures above they do exist. From time to time there are the odd cast PBP's which look awful at the back but sharp at the front, this is not one of them.
