Default postage in uk

hi all,

i was about to buy this item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1711677719...84.m1438.l2649 with free postage umtil i read on down.

they use a private courier and the cost is outragious.i realise they have to cross water but a recorded delevery item does the same and why not offer the cheaper option in this stage of the recession, they may get more buyers that way

A tenner postage on a £2.50 item is just taking the mick IMHO.

Philip, Its been a while since I lived over there - on and off over a 30 year period - but surely postage charges to NI have always been outrageous. I recall us getting getting hit big time when we bought furniture etc. It got to the point where it was cheaper to rent a van, plus ferry charges, plus petrol (not a NI rates...) and buy it in the UK.
I was however, under the impression that standard "mail" charges - via the PO, were no different for NI than they were for the the mainland... Sounds like a rip off to me. Maybe its about time there was a referendum along the lines of the Scottish one....... I am waiting for the English counties to each want their own partition. Might as well go back to feudal times. Be nice to see Rutland back again...
Rgds, David

The sellers profit seems to be in the postage more than the item itself.

Unhappy Postage costs

I think this is the thin end of the wedge regarding postal charges, they are bound to go higher as the organisation is now private. Yet another sell off and what happens to the money?

I'd keep an eye on those crown jewels . . !

Nice suggestion Phil, though I suspect PayPal have some regulation about sellers not giving goods to some dodgy-looking bloke with a beard. Oh wait ...

... and that’s why my friends call me ‘Carlos’

It says that postage to NI is MINUS £16.00 that is £13.50 net profit for the buyer per badge!

Default they will post free

hi guys,

i sent them a e email stating while interested in the badge their postage/courier rate was way to high for the price of the item and i was not interested anymore.

in their reply, which i was not really expecting, they said postage was free on this item but did not say why they kept their postage/courier rates in the description which was confusing.

why give one rate at the top and another further down

hi phil,

many thanks for the offer, much apprecated.was nice to see we always try to help each other on here

I was going to say, as the seller states free postage, insist on it and if he argues, report him to eBay.

But the badge is a repro, I have a recent issue used you could have had for free.
