Default RAF wings but a variant? Any ideas?

Hi

I'm new to wings and have these RAF wings. They were bought as WW2 but I can't find a match in Warren Caroll's book.

They are flatter and wider than the ones in the book. They are more like the style of the 1918 ones, maybe.

Anyone seen one like this please?

LOL, you must bare in mind, the late Warren Carroll merely illustrated his own collection by publishing a book.

Since the fittings have lugs and a pin, I'm wondering whether they were worn on desert kit in the Middle East inter-wars.

I am going out on a limb with my opinion. This variant is seen. I have one myself. Mine I source from South Africa. I have also seen pics of this worn with South African connections. I truly believe they were made there. With the broach attachment it would certainly tie into a warm climent like SA.
Cheers
