Ironic that the plastic South Staffordshire is scarce as most of the plastic badges that I own were made in Walsall, Staffordshire. Perhaps the locals hovered them up as souvenirs.

The commonality, or not, of plastic badges depends on a number of factors:
1. Acceptance by the unit concerned. For example the Scots Bns seem to have been dismissive. Few worn and few survive. 2. Number made. Eg Cambridgeshire badges were for HG and Cadets as the 2 x Cam TF Bn were at Singapore. Education Corps are so scarce as so few were made. 3. Post war wear - some units continued to wear the badge in to the 1950s. 4. The desirability of collectors' whims. Para regt command a premium price for example. Alan |
