Default Leinster Officer's QVC helmet plate

I have an Leinster officer's QVC helmet plate, which sadly has lost its silver central device. I was wondering if anyone knows who sells repro plates or,
a long shot, has a silver centre knocking about in spares tin at home, so I can restore the badge to its former glory? Thanks for your help in advance.

LS,

I have had the opportunity to buy Officers Helmet plates cheaply in the past that are missing, for instance, the centre piece or the Regimental title scroll, and although tempted I know in my heart it would be almost impossible to find the missing piece and have never done so.

Buying a fake and adding a part from that would not "restore the badge to its former glory" but merely make the poorly made fake part look out of place and add nothing to the plate.

I hope you find an original one having said that, but fear it will be hard.

regards

I agree, but then it could pass hands as an original.

Thank you Simon and Andy,

I have taken your points on board, the plate came to me as part of a family grouping to the regiment and will not be sold on, it will be displayed with other regimental items...Thanks once again.

LS,

You never know what turns up if you keep your eyes open, you may just find what you are looking for.

I bought the back plate of the shako plate in the attached picture many years ago for next to nothing and eventually found a center which cost a fair amount but the two parts fitted together perfectly and I have a complete shako plate that I am happy with (and at the end of the day that is all that matters ) at a fraction of the price that it would cost to buy another.

P.B.

Thanks Peter, I have seen two centres go on ebay over the years, but I didn't have a need then. Just goes to show you, never mind.
