Default R Sigs white belt.

I know nothing about this belt or its buckle. Material is a sort of thick rubberised plastic (if not leather, as it has stitchings). Waist-plate brass with wm 'Jimmy' on tongue and Certa Cito & QC on the annulus.

Only Corps belts mentioned in the 'Headdress Badges and Embellishments of the Royal Corps of Signals' book are the girdle and the stable belt. Googling was no help either.

Could it have been worn by the 'White Helmets' or whatever their demonstration motorcycle team is called?

I had given them a thought but a white belt isn't incorporated in their uniform.

Default Royal Signals Belt & Buckle

GTB,
Have you given any thought to the Band, my only reason for the thought is the Regimental Music CD shows new and presumably old bands, in the bottom they appear to wear white belts, could be the 'RE Signals' regards Mark

In the 1950's the RSMDT's originally wore a blackened 1937 pattern web belt and later a black patent leather one.

The buckle at the first post has a queen's crown so is unlikely to be RE Sig Service.

Alan,
No truer words said, just a thought 'what about the band'

Quite likely although there are a number of units who might have used it with ceremonial dress. There used to be a large number of signallers in No1 Dress supporting London Ceremonial and the like. Occasionally the dress got quite 'inventive' - there was even a Royal Signals Officers' Bushby worn by one individual in full ceremonial dress.

From what little I see of the belt it looks like it's the thick white vinyl version of the old buff leather belt.
That sort of belt was around in the 1970's, I think (I stand to be corrected) that the Guards were wearing them back then.
I would imagine that they were normal wear with certain orders of dress by some line infantry units, others may have worn them for stints on Public Duties and the like.
A long way of saying that it may perhaps have been worn for a limited purpose by R Sigs for Public Duties or similar?

They are held in stores and worn by recruits on passing out parades.

The Guards have always worn the Buff belt, and not the white plastic belt.

Late 70s early 80s apprentices at Harrogate wore the black plastic belt with the flat chrome plate and anodised badge on. Until you got to senior term or were on senior drill, then you wore the green plastic belt with plate. The reason being that there werent any black plastic bayonet frogs .

Definitely worn on Public Duties by at least one guard late 1976.
Perhaps it was a short lived, doomed trial?

Grenadiers I believe, or possibly Scots, Public Duties Oct/Nov 1976, I can't remember the exact date or which of the two regiments, witnessed by me and in discussion with Guardsmen at the time they stated that they didn't like the things.

I can remember my old RSM WO1 Lionel Bailey CG wore the buff belt which was whitened and it transferred onto his No1 Blues jacket, not impressed at all.
