Default Is this Badge good?

Hi
Is this Burma RailwayPolice badge kosher?

Looks too squeaky clean to me, or has it been refurburshied. There is another similar badge to the Burma Police out there and some months ago there was one to the Rangoon Police, which is now on a dealers website. They all look absolutley new so am a little doubtful. After all those years in the tropics no sign of ageing, wear and tear at all??

Hi Khyber,

Like you, the only problem I see with the badge is it looks a little too good (condition wise) to be true. Let's hope it's the exception that proves the rule.

Fingers crossed for you..

Cheerio,

Roy

Yes Roy, I've become a little paranoid these days about 'authenticity' ..never know what's being copied these days..Which is why I only try and collect hallmark silver wherever possible. And even white metal badges in excellent condition do show signs of ageing - a nice patina, a slight dullness in colour that's very pleasing to the eye...but these look too new and the clean lugs as well..

Sometimes I get so nervous and go back and check the badges in my collection over and over again

It is a well known condition prevalent in the badge collecting community. A sudden onset anxiety that you have been conned after carefully examining your expensive purchase. The symptoms include anger, incredulousness, shame and loud declarations about giving up your long term hobby for something less emotionally taxing such as golf, canasta or serial killing.

The correct psychological term is Sudden Onset Military Badge Acquisition Anxiety but it is less formally known as acute bagitation.

There is no known cure.

Its a perfectly fine and original badge, that IMHO has NOT been cleaned but just kept well.

regards

Now that is funny. Glad to hear I am not the only one suffering from this malady.

And possibly unissued? Ends of QM stores used to be a great source of badges, especially when the political entities/units/groups no longer exist.
