Question What did I miss here?

I was watching this lot and I cannot see what achieved this price.

Somebody particularly wanted the Newfoundland brooch?
Is it an actual "badge" or merely a form of sweetheart?

I think original Newfoundland Regt items from WW1 are pretty scarce, if it is such an item as I am date guessing. They were wiped out at Beaumont Hamel on the first day of the Somme.
Maybe put it in the Canadian section for a definitive answer

Yes, it's the 1st NFLD I'm zeroing in on as the desirable item in this grouping, could it be an officers shoulder title? The construction seems too complicated for an ORs item.
It would be interesting to know exactly what it is.

Cool 1st NFLD title

The 1st NFLD title is brooched, I had a pair of original titles with loops, but I did not realise they were so sought after, I must dig them out.

Default BADGE LOT

Hi Rob

Probably a combination of the 1st/NFLD and the 16CH sweetheart. The NFLD S/T had been converted from the original three loops to the pin back. Those NFLD S/T have been selling in the $100 range for awhile.

I am always seeking NFLD varieties so if anyone has any for trade or sale please let me know.

Thanks

Don
