Default Identification of circular stainless steel id tag

I have found in my garden a stainless steel id tag.
This area of Hampshire was used in the build up to D Day
The tag is stainless steel, approx 1.5" diam.
The name PARNELL across the centre under the single hole, with CE underneath and a number 226 67697 arround the curve of the base.

Any ideas as it would be great to pass this on to NOK

Thankyou.

Hello mauricehillier, welcome to the Forum. Your account is active and open for posts.
An image of the tag would be helpful.

It sounds like the same type that was issued post war. I had that type issued in 1958 and it was still in use in 1973.The number was issued to a member of the Royal Engineers.
