Hello guys,

I have made a list of my RCT and RCT/MSO Anodised cap badges.

I have also added metric measurements of the sliders to show they differ quite a bit in their length.

Royal Corps of Transport Anodised Cap Badges

This is a list of the fixings, types of cap badges and manufacturers markings
(I have listed all forms and types of “stated” badges, with comments as to why they are listed here)

The first thing we need to do is divide these badges into groups, so we will look into this more closely.
Grooved back; Flat backed; Concave backed; M etal

I noticed that the badges had different slider types so I now needed to separate them into; “Slider Lengths/Types”
Extra Short 36mm; Short 38mm; Medium 40mm; Medium Long 42mm; Long 44mm Extra Long :45mm

Also to add to this most badges can be found painted in Matt Black when used in a Tactical setting (NI or Ex)

The Star, Queens Crowns, Royal Cyphers and Belt Buckles differ in some of these variants

Does anyone have any info on who made the RCT/REME/MSO badges? Clearly not Gaunt or Firmin or whoevers RCT cap badge was 'doctored' to add the brass MSO disc? I would imagine machined and made up at a workshop somewhere in BAOR for instance.

Any knowledge out there chaps?

Regards all

Bess
