14th Battalion, RMR, CEF
This is my Wife's Great Grandfather, Samuel Martindale, who served in the signals section of the Royal Montreal Regiment.
He is decked out in full RMR dress (I presume) for his wedding photo in the first one. I'm not sure if the bottom picture is of his 14th tunic, looks more like a generic Canada collar badge, definitely not a RMR one. Maybe it is a earlier shot. He enlisted with the 35th Battalion (after serving with 10th Royal Grenadiers pre-war militia) and after volunteering for their 2nd Reinforcing Draft, was attached to the 23rd Battalion, briefly, before being assigned to the 14th in France. Maybe this is a shot taken prior to his being posted to the 14th?! |
