Despite being right next to a Warner’s Hotel, it is in a very remote spot.
Let’s hope both the artefacts and the scum bags are found quickly. P.

Indeed, such items would be very hard to flog by ordinary thieves I would guess. One has to wonder if some moneyed person or group is behind this theft...very sad.

This kind of thing is always beyond sad. During a celebration of Billy Bishop they put his medals on display and somebody stole them. Sadly we also see it occasionally at our local show where someone will steal something from a seller's table.
How can anyone enjoy something they stole? I can';t see you ever being able to show anyone and part of the hobby for me is sharing. All they have done is deprive others from enjoying some famous pieces of history that should be enjoyed by all. I too hope they catch them before any damage is done to the pieces taken. Terry |

Unfortunately Terry that is part of their sport, they look at it and remember the theft and get a buzz out of it! Sadly!
A dealer (must have been Stratford?) said that he was distracted by a bloke asking him about certain badges and while he was sorting him out some expensive badges had gone walkabout, he saw the bloke to whom he had suspicions of doing it with the bloke who had distracted him (who incidentally didn’t purchase anything! What actually can a dealer do? Leave his table untended and chase the bloke who might not have anything on him? wrong bloke? or passed onto someone else! I have talked to some of the dealers at Stratford about this and quite a few have had this at some point, kids I can understand but not grown men! A case in point, Stratford this Sunday was at Les’s stall and had a case of extremely pricy badges in front of me Paul and Les went to serve punter’s I was left with this case (£350 for “A” badge) the lid was in one of their hands and I was left guarding this until I got it back into their hands! I am Honest fortunately but if something had gone missing I would have been gutted, but also nice to know they are happy enough to trust me with such! |

It doesn't say if the items were recovered though.

Looks like what he is - scum ! Pleased that he has been caught. This museum is only about six miles from where I live and I call in on a regular basis if I've got an hour to kill
Low lives like this spoil it for decent members of society.... Paul |
