What is the small embroidered "dead chicken" used for?

This professional photographer's site displays many excellent colour portrait photographs of the current British Army and other Service Personnel.

I was very lucky to get one of these from a friend and well established collector of Scottish militaria, regrettably no longer with us. The sign was issued (I think) only during the first Gulf War.

Very nice - will have to find one.

Is it an unofficial TRF?

Mick

I really can't say, Mick. I thought I had something about it in a magazine (Military Illustrated, perhaps?) but I can't seem to find anything.
