A forage cap with provenance to an officer who was in the Glosters in the 1940's, & served a s major & lt col in the 5th Bn until at least 1961.
Kings Crown gilt buttons on the cap, which has at some time been fitted with a lugged front badge prior to the bullion. I cant quite be sure, but I don't think its ever had a lugged back badge. |

The back badge sewn to the first forage cap I showed with the back badge I posted yesterday evening placed to its right for comparison, they're similar although not exactly the same, the one on a 50's or 60's Wessex Bde period cap, the other claimed by the vendor to be a badge he wore in Cyprus 1962-63.
Looks like the gold tablet back badges were worn by the Glosters, not just by the RGBW. |
