Default The mystery of the holes in the lions tale.

Hi Guys,
I would like your opinions on the Royal Marines cap/beret badge. I have always tried to stay away from examples were the tale of the lion wasn't cut out, i.e. had holes in. Am I correct in the belief that they are wrong?
For the first observation I will say that I have noticed that when the badge has a solid tale the inside of the globe doesn't show the detail of the other side, as it would do if it had been stamped out.
Regards
Irv
