Marcus,
Jon sent me an image of that SD recently. In 'A pictorial history of the RTR' by George Forty. He says "In the 1st World War each man awarded a decoration was allowed to wear a lanyard in the Corps colours" (red, brown and green for the RTC). I see the uniform has an MiD Oak Leaf but not on a ribbon? Do you have service date history for the owner of the SD? Perhaps a WW1 veteran and an early member of 45 RTR on conversion from 7th Bn Leeds Rifles? Or did the convention of an RTR colours lanyard for decorated men continue u into WW2? Tim
