King Crown Colour/Sgts Badge 1925-53

The Royal Marines Colour Sergeants badge was embroidered directly into the sleeve by the Barrack Tailor and is not a stitch on badge,it can also be found on a Brassard.
The lining of the sleeve protected the wearers arm from hitching the threads.
After 1953 this badge was discontinued and Royal Marines Col/Sgts wore a Crown above their stripes.
In March 1957 a new Queens crown badge came into service for dress blues.
Copies of this badge have found there way onto online auctions and militaria fairs.
The Gold thread that make up the laurel leaves on the original badge is very fine.
But on the copy the thread is very thick and is not as detailed as the original, the back of the badge is covered with a cloth tape backing.
Royal Marines were known to cut down original badges to make a Blazer badges after they left the service.
