Default Silver hallmarked?

Should I be wary of investing my money in these badges?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?_o...ilver&_sacat=0

Since hallmarked silver badges were not manufactured in the immediate post-ww2 period, and most modern officer's badges are gilt, I am concerned about the number of badges, and their indistinct hallmarks, being offered on this site.

Observations please: good/ bad?

Stephen.

The LRDG one on his site has been the subject of a recent thread I think Stephen. The recommendation was that they were fakes.

I have not checked all the listings but some at least clearly state "Made in silver restrike. Have been made before 1995, however have only just been hallmarked". So possibly dodgy on a few fronts!

I think his listing makes it very clear:-

"Hallmarked silver ........... cap badge
Made in silver restrike
Have been made before 1995, however have only just been hallmarked so it reads
Hallmark-
GB
Anchor Birmingham
Lion
And a T for 2018
Do not quote me on these a better photo can be sent
If needed."

Should you wish to invest in them is your decision.

regards

He has obviously had patience waiting for the small ‘t’ to come back within the cycle, funny how it was also for 1918/9 or is that just a coincidence
Someone will obviously be duped with them once they pass hands a couple of times. Fortunately the cartouche should prevent a few buyers from erring.

As Frank has mentioned, utter crap. Some of his items that he has done in Silver, have been modelled on Fake badges.

I cannot understand why anyone would want to buy one of these.

Default Silver hallmarked

Gentlemen,

I think my purpose has been served by raising the subject. If you are members of other forum please spread the seeds of doubt further.

Thanks, Stephen.
