Default Reich Folkestone badge maker

Hi Gents,
First one of these I have seen on a British badge. I believe this makers mark is normally found on WW1 Canadian badges.
Anway here's a British Royal Army pay Corps British badge for you to see.
Regards
Colin

Colin,
Could it be the King's Crown with lion and maker marked slider of a Canadian Provost Corps cap badge that has been "married" to an RAPC scroll?

Hi Tim,
I'm pretty sure this badge has not been messed around with. I think the Canadian Provost Corps was a 1 piece badge anyway.
Would be interesting to see how many other Forum members have British or Canadian "Reich Folkestone" marked badges.
Regards
Colin

Colin,

I have an interest in maker marked badges and can say that not only have I never heard of them I have never seen a badge either.

Is it Folkestone in England or elsewhere?

A very rare badge I think and nice to see.

regards

Hi Simon,
Thankyou for your comments. I have a particular interest in this makers name because I live near Folkestone.
As far as I am aware Reich made badges mainly for C.E.F batallions here in the U.K before they deployed to France During WW1.
Canadian Regiments were Almagamated (re named) and in some cases re badged.
There would have been little time to get new stock from Canada so presumably Reich from Folkestone came to the rescue.
I'm sure our Canadian Forum friends could probably help us out on this makers mark a little more and perhaps a bit more info?
Regards.
Colin

That is a Tudor crown, but, the badge , just from the photograph, does not look as old as that to me, at least.

Hi Frank,
I am not saying that this is a WW1 badge indeed this style of R.A.P.C wasn't introduced until 1929 up until the 50's.
The only badges that I know of that Reich made were Canadian.
If we could date the timeline of when Reich produced badges that might be very useful to determining whether this badge is a genuine or not.
I have attached a piccy of the front of the badge for Forum members.
Regards
Colin
