Default Are these right?

Evening All
Are these pieces original per chance?
They've come along with a lot of original badges.
Certainly the 8KRIH looks like a repro and feels soft to the touch.
Thanks IMG_1898.jpg

Smile Yeo/Cavalry

Jon,

I think more detailed pics of the QVC 8th Irish Hussars might make life easier to ascertain it's originality, certainly the construction looks correct for a badge of this period.

The F&F Yeomanry look OK to me others may have other ideas.

Rob

I do not rate the 8th Hussars. It's not right.

If the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry cap badge has no flowers amongst the grass it is generally thought to be a copy.

Flowers are just a maker's variation. However the sealed patterns were slidered so unless its a pre WW1 version then lugs are suspect in my book.

Default Thanks chaps

The stuff has come from the affects of what looks like to be an ex 8Hussars officer.
In a separate lot there were various 8H pieces including wartime div signs and cavalry slip ons/ rank epps in yellow.
Pictures of itherboieces attached. Sadly I've only an iPhone ATM for pix

8th Hussars is a fake IMO. Poor reverse detail on maid of Erin no braze hole behind the crown

Re the F&F Yeo I agree with Alan. IMO even the version with flowers has been re-struck from the original die.

I think the Northamptonshire Yeomanry looks OK. Believe they were worn with a cornflower blue circular backing. Is it lugged N-S or E-W?

Cheers,
Luke

8H definitely fake. The original QVC badges have the lugs in the back of the harp. Not on the scroll ends.

I think, just from the photographs in the original post, the 8th Hussars is actually anything but correct and is an appalling copy.

Border Regiment badge doesn't look very promising. Too few holes around the dragon.
