Default Another Irish patch

The attached patch is shown on the Irish Defence Force badge charts, which were in the last two editions of the 'Formation Sign', journal of the Military Heraldry Society, as TIS Kilbride. Can anyone tell me what the acronym TIS stands for please? I assume it is a training school of some sort.

TIS stands for Training Installation Staff.

Prior to the most recent 2012 re-organization, the Irish Army fielded 3 Infantry Brigades. Each of which had a main training ground. That for the 2 Infantry Brigade was the training ground at Kilbride Camp, Co Wicklow.

There has been a military training camp at Kilbride since 1895.

Hi John,
Many thanks for telling me what the acronym means. Thanks even more for the link to the Irish Defence Force site. That will be most useful for reference purposes. It is good to read that the badge is fairly scarce as the staff for the training centre is small. I'm pleased to have the badge.
