Default Pretoria Highlanders collar?

Hi All,

I picked up this unusual PH collar, lugs almost WWII cast type but not a cast badge. The front is almost like aged silver?

Any ideas?

Thanks Iain

Iain

I must have a look at my small PTH collection. Nothing wrong with that one I believe.

Here is my selection, there is one in there as well....http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ia+highlanders

Note the first brass badge, it has similar lugs....made by the same firm ?

Brian

Hi Brian,

thanks I hadn't seen one before, PH items seem to be really scarce.

I now have a grand total of 7 items

Hi Iain
I think the frosted silver look was once a nickel plating which doesn't seem to last well. I have a couple of glengarry badges which also have the same finish.
Cheers,
Alex

Yes Alex

They were poorly coated, very sad actually as they are nice looking badges generally.

Iain, it is strange how the PH items seem to pop up from time to time, at one time there were virtually none, then about 5 years back they were fairly easy to find and once again they have faded from the markets?

I was fortunate to put my little collection together during the "good times" but they are out there, one just needs to keep their eyes peeled.

Brian
