ARP Ministers of Religion Armband
I have just found a reference in an ARP Wardens Bulletin issued in Brighton in November 1940 which states that "The recognised design of the distinctive armlet for clergy is a band of RAF blue cloth four inches wide with the letters "A.R.P." embroidered in red silk and below the lettering a cross embroidered in white silk". An example of this armband is shown.
Interestingly the note goes on to state "below the lettering... or for rabbis two superimposed triangle in white silk". I've never seen an example of the rabbis' version. Has anyone? Jon |
