Lowland Regiment
Having looked through previous posts on this badge, not a great deal to go on other than four lugs is good.
Can anyone pass comment as to the originality of these two. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tony.

Hi Tony,
I hope your well, in my opinion the one on the left is a typical fake, the curve at the ends of the inner crease of the St.Andrews cross and lug orientation I don't think is correct also Lowland is to even, the O usually looks shorter. The other looks ok but for the die flaws on a couple of letters. Paul |

Hello Paul,
I see what you mean with the die flaws on the R/H badge also its larger than the first. Cheers Tony.

The image below may help you make a comparison on the one Paul has identified for you as looking ok.
The lugs on yours are orientated the same as mine - that is with the holes pointing N-S -which is a good sign too. Does it look like the lettering on the scroll has been rubbed excessively causing some letters to 'bleed' into the stippled background? That would be better than die-flaws for sure. Cheers Mark |

I'll also add that I see from time to time excellent genuine examples of this badge on eBay that don't sell. I've often wondered if it's because of the huge plethora of fakes that are around and buyers who are unsure of what to look for are over wary? For this reason it's possible to pick one up at a good price - often the same price as the duds. Therefore if you want one that hasn't been too rubbed - keep looking - they are out there. |

Mark, I don't think the letters are rubbed.
Will keep an eye out for a better example now I know what to look for. Cheers Tony.
