Information on this badge, please.
Was shown a candy tin of plastic badges yesterday. Some gems including RWAFF, Parachute Regt, AAC, among many. There was also this badge, which I am not familiar with. Women's Land Army, some sort of forestry?

A rare badge. Not military but WLA were volunteers who worked on the land to release men for the war effort. Shame the tangs are gone but it would still make a good price if sold on ebay UK or the like. They did do forestry but also farming.

the other ones I mentioned are also better ones for the plastic series?
The owner is considering consigning them to an auction.

Could you not persuade the owner to try the forum first,as I for one am collecting the plastic economy badges at the moment so I'm sure I'd be interested as may others? Just a thought Gerard

Hi Gerard, Unfortunately, this is an estate situation, and the executor is not 100% sure what to do with the material. This was one tin in the accumulation that filled the better part of four medium sized rooms. In two days of assisting them I only scratched the surface. I should indicate that this is in Canada and the vast majoritiy of the accumulation is Canadian.

Para regt is £80-100 and AAC is £60-70 on a good day.

Those units at least have known production runs, I haven't got my Marcus Cotton lists to hand but I think he didn't have a figure for the number of Timber Corps plastic economy numbers produced?
Nice badge (I only have the common, brass version). |

Marcus has the production run as 8000+ All by Alfred Stanley & Sons Ltd, of Walsall.

Thanks, I thought they were an unknown quantity - but only 8000, I'd settle for one without tangs (but then I'd settle for an RA collar dog without tangs) - I'm sure it'll find a good home.
