Australian Camel Corps unofficial sand cast hat badge - WW1
A badge that has been heavily faked over the years. |

Hi David,
To be honest, it's hard to say as original sand cast camel corps badges exist. I'm also not an expert on them. It s badge I tend to stay away from myself unless I I had some providence about a particular badge. Mick |

hi guys
i also would never buy a sand cast camel corps badge. one of the most reproduced aussie badges out there. i have had 3 camel corps badges in the past, all came from the family of camel corps members and all 3 die struck but from different dies. will try and find the photos of them and put them up. for me, a real tell tail sign of a fake sand cast is those with a completely flat back and not rough and ready as most of the legit sand cast badges from other countries/units/periods seem to be bc |

Hard to say for sure , the only way one can be at least 95% is if it came from a family with other items belonging to a camel corp soldier and even that is hard as it may have been included way after 1919. If I may ask where this badge came from and did you pay alot ?? As I have seen one very close to this some where else the 2 holes at the top are the give away.
