Could he be the youngest corporal in the australian army in FWW.....and having a 'cool' cigarette....

Not a uniform made up for him by mum, but one issued to him as a soldier.
Alec Campbell, born 1899, he died 2002, the last of the ANZACs
He enlisted for the 15th Battalion Reinforcements at the age of 16 years & 4 months, & served at Gallipoli.

This photo is of the cover of the book "The Last ANZACS" (by Tony Stephens & Steven Stewart, published by the Freemantle Arts Centre Press), I picked this copy in Darwin in 2003.

Alex Campbell believed that he must have lied about his age in order to enlist.
One of 18 Gallipoli veterans featured in the book and not the only one who joined up at such a young age.

Some of those featured in the book led unbelievably harsh lives as children.
