Civil Defence Buttons or Christian Dior!!
Good morning all
Hope this might raise a smile amongst fellow button collectors! We often see military-looking fashion buttons being sold on ebay as military buttons but I came across this amusing listing the other day. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Bu...AAAOSwU8hY5VXf Not quite military I know but 'Civil Defence' buttons being sold as 'vintage Christian Dior military style' fashion buttons. Why do sellers keep making these things up when they clearly don't have a clue? Surely it is much easier to list something as 'unknown'? Roger |

You have got it all wrong Roger.
This is Royal Christian Dior. Similar to Hugo Boss in Nazi Germany, Christian Dior supplied clothing to elite British civilians during WWII. |

And I thought it was April 16th, not April 1st!

Now if only we could think up another meaning for GPO and other common, non military, buttons.
P.B. ( if like this lady, someone is specializing in selling buttons, you would think having a copy Gwen Squires book or something similar would be a must have, she could even claim the cost against her income tax )

Roger,
And there was me thinking they were Cadbury's Dairymilk buttons. Kevin. |
