Default 15th kings hussars badge - help please

Hi All,

I've just picked up this 15th kings hussars badge, I was a bit worried about it at first but I see from my copy of "military badge collecting" there was an economy all brass version so now I'm a bit happier about it.

I was wondering what people thought about it (ie does it look real) and if anyone can tell me the going rate for one is?

Thanks a lot,

Michael

The crest seems white metal to me.

There was no all brass 1916 version and yours appears to be the normal bi-metal one anyway.

Thanks a lot, it does look as if the crest is a separate piece but the colours are so similar I just presumed it was all brass as listed in the book.

Is there anything I can do to make the white metal stand out a bit more?

I have used brown sauce on some enamel badges to clean them, is that worth a try on this or would that do more harm than good?

Wow, 15 minutes in white vinegar, what a difference.

Thanks for the help.

I cannot help but think that the particular username you have chosen does seem very appropriate.

It is in this case.

At least now you can see it is a bi metal badge, it will be lovely once it dulls back down a bit.
