SAAF 1950s
IMO some of the nicest SAAF badges and uniforms appeared during the 1950s. Much smarter than the plac-a-tac they wear now.

Interesting, the top one looks like a QC badge. I have the blacked backed badges (junior officers) in KC & QC but it's the first time I've seen that with a QC! Very nice and unusual
My KC version below. Cheers, Alex |

Hi Gents,
Another area I know very little about but must agree, some lovely looking badges there. Thanks for sharing and highlighting these. Cheerio, Roy

Photo from 1955 edition of Commando magazine showing the badges been worn. I like the uniforms and insignia of the UDF period post war and pre Republic.

Interesting ribbon arrangement too!
Here are a couple more: A full length of Lt Joubert http://saafmuseum.org.za/korean-war-60th-anniversary/ And a close up of Maj Johnson (half way down the page) http://saafww2pilots.yolasite.com/eric-johnson.php |
